Pardus 2008 apportera son lot de nouveautés. À commencer par le gestionnaire de configuration COMAR.

D-Bus sera utilisé pour la communication entre applications, processus et services, le contrôle d'accès sera géré par PolicyKit.

   D-Bus est un système de bus message, un moyen direct pour les applications de communiquer entres elles.
   En plus de la communication entre processus - Rappel : un processus est un programme en cours d'exécution -,
   D-Bus aide à coordonner le cycle de vie des processus; il rend simple et fiable de coder un démon, et de lancer applications et démons à la
   demande en cas de besoin. 

   PolicyKit est un ensemble d'outils applicatifs de gestion for defining and handling the policy qui permet aux processus "utilisateur" de parler 
   aux processus "administrateur" : C'est un cadre de travail centralisant la prise de décision d'accorder des privilèges "administrateur" à des 
   applications "utilisateur". PolicyKit cible spécifiquement les applications en environnement de bureau sur les systèmes d'exploitation 
   multi-utilisateurs de type UNIX. Il n'implique ni ne repose sur des caractéristiques spéciales du noyau. 

Vous pouvez voir dans cette vidéo le gestionnaire d'utilisateurs (qui utilise DBus pour communiquer avec COMAR) utiliser PolicyKit pour obtenir l'autorisation à travers l'authentification.

Yali, l'installeur proposera une interface plus aboutie pour partitionner son disque dur.
